A Tour of Nathan’s Room

We’re close enough to finishing Nathan’s room that I’m ready to show it to everyone. Even before we knew he was a “he”, we started on this room. We’re nerds, I know. We came up with the idea of a vintage music theme and ran with it. Hope you love it as much as we do!

P1010415 The view from the door. There’s a vinyl sticker over the window that has the verse “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord”. We hope Nathan takes that one to heart in more ways than one. :)

P1010416 The rug… This was the inspiration for the room.

P1010417 The crib wall. Those are James’ guitars on the wall and a super fun cross from our shower with Nathan’s initials in the center. Another vinyl sticker in the shape of a ticket stub. Note that the section, row and seat number are his birth date (Oct 17, 2011). His name is in the center. I thought this was such a fun alternative to the wood letters we’ve done for the girls in the past. All of the albums around the sticker have hand-written notes from friends and family either from the shower or from visitors to the hospital.

P1010418 I made the crib bedding and am pleased with how it turned out. The inside of the bumper is black dot minky, so it’s super soft. I’m hoping my cousin will take the photo that will go in that frame. I’m thinking a black and white one of the girls with Nathan.

P1010419 This is hanging between the closet and the door to the room. They’re some old German music sheets that we found on Etsy and framed.

P1010420 I think this album wall is my favorite part of the room. Those are just records attached to the wall surrounded by some molding from Home Depot that we painted and distressed. The dresser is a Craigslist find that James also painted and distressed. I made the changing pad cover also from the black dot minky, and James made the twin headboard on the right with a friend from church.

P1010421 I made the curtains and window valance.

P1010422 Ellie made that piece of art at her American Idol camp this summer. I was SO thrilled that it fit in his room so well.

And that concludes our tour! There’s lots of love that went into this room, so I hope he grows up to love it someday.
