Wiebe Summer

We've had a fast but fun summer. Our summer was primarily framed by the Indy trip I just posted about as well as a three week stint I had in Austin for work followed by my sister and her family coming to visit (see next post). We've spent much time on boats (thanks to Dad, the Webbs and the Yorks) and both girls are amazing in the water. Ellie has even started jumping off the main deck of my dad's boath which is about 10 feet up off the water. Emma - well, she thinks she can swim on her own and likes to jump out of your arms and try it. She cracks us up. Here are a few random photos from the time in between:

We were invited out on a catamaran boat trip with some friends and had a fabulous time. There was a crazy storm in the middle, but it was still a blast. Both girls went down the slide into the water and enjoyed being in the lake.

Ellie has been helping me cook a bit lately. Here's the cook in action!

This is Ellie's "not-so-much-Marilyn-Monroe" pose. I thought it was pretty darn cute.

And in our perhaps most exciting news of the summer, Emerson did finally start walking in the last few weeks - mostly while I was in Austin. :( I did get to see her first steps, though, so we think she's pretty darn adorable when she does it. More video of that later, but here's a cute one just after a big morning of walking:

The Wiebes go to Indy

We had an AWESOME time going to visit our friends Paul and Lori in Indianapolis in June. We were supposed to be there for the birth of their 4th child and 3rd daughter Reese. Reese had other plans, though. She was scheduled to come on the 17th and chose to come two weeks early on the 3rd. She weighed in at 7lbs. 4oz., their largest yet. (Note that the Wiebes have never seen a baby that small nor would we have any idea of what a baby coming two weeks – or any time – early would be like). We were so bummed to miss her birth, but we had to keep our plans intact due to work obligations, etc. The bonus was that we got a bunch more time with Paul and Lori and the kids. We had a great time. Much time was spent relaxing at home at at the pool, but we had a few fun outings to give Lori a break from the chaos. Below are some highlights:

We celebrated Father’s day while we were there. Here’s Ellie and Daddy.

One day, James and I took 5 kids (Reagan, 8, Ryan, turned 6 while we were there, and Riley, 3, and our two – Baby stayed home) to the Indy Children’s Museum. We and the kids had a really fun time.

There was a dinosaur dig. How cute is Ellie in her goggles?

This was our attempt to get a cute photo of all five kids. Notice that Emerson and Riley weren’t excited about it.

Especially not Riley

But Riley happied up on the carousel.

Back at the Cornwells, this is Ellie saying “To infinity and beyond!”

Ellie and Reese again. There was a lot of Ellie and Reese time. So cute.

A close-up of sweet Reese

We got to be there for Ryan’s 6th birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese towards the end of our trip. Here’s a cute one of Ellie and Riley enjoying a much smaller carousel.

One photo of me holding Reese. Our routine was that James and I would try and help out with dinner and much as possible and then we’d all clean the kitchen and put the kids to bed. Then it was Amy/Reese time while we watched tv. So nice….

We stayed with James’ Uncle John and Aunt Stacey on the way home. This shows how Emerson was feeling that night. She rarely falls asleep anywhere but her bed, but she was ready that night.

I hate that we didn’t get any photos of the Pitman clan nor of us with our lunch with Aunt Becka and Uncle Daniel. We loved seeing all of you, though! Thanks to the Cornwells for a great two weeks of quality time. Can’t wait to connect again!

A Message from Ellie to Georgie

So, Ellie has wanted to call Georgie almost every day lately. They're so cute when they talk to each other. Sadly, though, Georgie hasn't called her back this week. You'll see in the video that she's all broken up about it. (Ha!) But, we decided to make him a video since they haven't connected yet. Thought you'd all enjoy it:

Do you feel bad yet, Aunt Jen? :) LOL...

Family Photos

Here are some of the family photos we took. Enjoy!

Ellie - 3 Year

Here are Ellie's 3 year photos. As you'll see, we have no problem getting cute pictures out of this girl! Some of these really highlight how fun and curly her hair is, too. We get comments on it all the time.

This might be a good place to note that we're working on potty training with her. She's doing really well. We recently switched to no diapers during the day and there have been just a few accidents. Next up is to start working on night time, but we may wait another couple of weeks before we start tackling that!

She's talking a ton and is so fun. I'll have to put a video up of her soon, so you can hear. Stay tuned!

Emerson - 1 Year

We recently did our photo shoot for both Emerson’s 1 year photos and Ellie’s 3 year photos. Here are the photos of Emerson. She’s definitely not as expressive as Ellie, but her smile still lights up her face when you get one. We’re still picking up on her personality traits. I think she’s going to be a little more sensitive. So far, when we tell her no she seems to take it as a personal offense and the lips turn under and she gets so sad! She definitely looks like her Daddy. And she also looks like Ellie but not exactly alike. She’s wiggly and cuddly both – sort of like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get! :) Enjoy her photos.

She may not be giving a full out smile for this one, but how sweet is that face?

I love those sweet eyes
